Erin Skahan | The Rouxx
I’m a writer with an insatiable love for food + travel. I spent 20 years in the hospitality industry, a career that fed and deepened my love for cultural exploration through culinary tradition.
My word-ly experience (see what I did there?) ranges from writing for small brands to some of the most recognizable corporations across the globe. Within my writer’s wheelhouse, you’ll find product packaging copy, ad copy, web copy, US localization for international companies, ghostwriting for entrepreneurs and CEOs, blog content, podcast scriptwriting, and show notes.
You can usually find me in the throes of something creative like cooking, writing, gardening, or working on house projects. I love real conversations, aimless long walks, and getting stuck into a great podcast. Guilty pleasures include BBC period dramas, babaganoush, and herbaceous gin.
THE ROUXX
A roux is a thickening base for recipes made from equal parts flour and fat. It’s what builds body and richness in a sauce. Transferring this saucy logic into a how-to-build-a-life concept, travel, food, connection, and the written word are the things that enrich my life. From a copy perspective, this translates to the ability to merge the right words with audience-appropriate emotional sentiment. The result is richly engaging, experiential reading. In other words, it’s copy that connects.
The “xx” is adopted from past years spent in Ireland. It represents two kisses between friends, a reflection of my highly personalized approach to my work.
